Pigments & Walking Tanks from MIG

Wednesday, July 22, 2009 - 07:55 AM BST

By PAT MCGRATH
MIG productions have announced a new metallic pigment set as well as two interesting What If/Sci Fi kits in the form of Walking Tanks.

Although these are science fiction there is such an interest in What if/Post 1945 scenarios that I'm posting them in Armor News rather than SciFi.

F 35651 KV-2X Heavy Walking Tank, Complete Kit

This is the first in a series of new vehicles based on a fictional parallel world developed after the Second World War. This is a complete resin model kit with moveable legs allowing the modeller to adapt it to any terrain. Our kit is based on the old KV-II turret used by the Russians in 1941 but with an improved roof containing updated technology that might have been seen during the 50s.

F 35650 KV-2X Heavy Walking Tank Chassis

Conversion for Tamiya or Trumpeter KV-2 models.

This walking chassis is intended be combined with the Tamiya or Trumpeter KV-II kits. You can also adapt it to different turrets to fit your own ideas.

This is the first in a series of impressive new vehicles based on a fictional parallel world developed after the Second World War. This resin model kit is a chassis with movable legs allowing the modeller to adapt it onto any terrain. This kit makes a huge and impressive looking combat vehicle to be painted or detailed in any manner on whichever battleground you choose.

These kits merge actual historical tanks and science fiction and give you huge combat vehicles to be painted or detailed in any manner on whichever battleground you choose. They can also be placed in dioramas with models of real tanks to create original scenes.

F614 Metallic Pigment Set

An extensive collection of high quality metallic pigments. This set contains four colours for making authentic metallic effects on your models. Now you can create your own colours by blending these pigments with other metallic coloured acrylics, enamels or lacquers. You can also mix them with wax, turpentine, oil and acrylic mediums, gel, water or Mig Fixer to obtain different effects. You can also use metallic pigments directly with a small brush to create valid metallic reflections on your spacecraft, robots, motors or any other kind of machinery. Take advantage now and buy your set of four colours at a lower price then the combined price of what these four colours would cost separately.

For more details and ordering see the Mig Productions website(LINK)

If you contact Mig Productions about any of these products please mention Armorama.

N.B. MIG productions will be accepting orders until the 27th of July? All orders submitted after the 27th will be processed when they return in two weeks from their summer vacations on the 17th of August.

Adam wilder posted some pictures ages ago of the one he painted up in his unique style. They are certainly something different and a new change of direction for MIG, I will be interested to see what else they have planned in the range (pictures are reposted from the orginal post by Adam Wilder) cheers Keith

I thought this was an armour forum, this stuff belongs in a fantasy forum not here, Cheers Bob. 8)

It's been posted in both, as we often do when the story is of interest to various genre groups. You did see the other, non-fantasy releases in this press release right? :|

nothing wrong with having a little open mindedness once in a while, that reminds me of the people who write in to MMI and state NO PLANES! i think this relese could start MIG a god career in sci fi aswell, although it does emind me of that guy who did similar box art ( no models) a few months back

Geeeezz. I applaud Mig's Sci Fi tilt but seriously! This "walking tank" ?? All you'd have to do to put it out of action is to frag the hydraulic lines (and with something of its size and weight wouldn't it take ALOT more to make it move?) I'm sure they would need to be armored - what would be the point? Chris 8)

Michael Fichtenmeyer's design sure went a long way. Now, anyone will be able to tackle it and see how awesome it is. Thumbs up, MiG Productions, and more, if you will. Something, dare I say, German? :D

I am not going to rivet count, but there is one thing that really annoys me as an engineer and that is that all cilinders only have 1 hydraulic line, which means they can only move one way. Second point is that it has to stand really high on it's legs for the turret to fire in all 360 degrees. The high position makes it a nice target. With the legs fully retracted under the belly it might work but it would lose stability. I shut up now :-X :D :D
