Background
Knight Models is a fairly new company from Spain producing white metal and resin figures from comic and film franchises. Knight Models has already got the licence's from Marvel comics to produce their Superheros and also has the Star Wars licence.
The Marvel universe range of figures are approximately 1/27th scale or 65/70mm average height from heel to eyes. There are eight models out already with I believe three more due in September. The Star Wars figures haven't been released as of yet.
All the models released so far are a deluxe limited edition sets and are limited to 500 sets apiece.
The kit
The model comes packed in a tin box with reference pictures on the back of the box of the painted and assembled figure. Upon opening, a character bio card with the limited edition number of the kit is found. Unfortunately the bio card is printed in Spanish, so I can't read that bit. The number of my kit is 298, not that that matters to me much as I am not collecting the kit to squirrel away for future sales.
Also included is a black plastic pedestal emblazoned with the Marvel Universe logo, which is used to display the model on. The five white metal parts are sandwiched in between two thick foam inserts with the metal base, body, arms and head in separate sealed bags, so packaging is top notch. Flash is non existent and only a small seam mark was detected on the main body, so clean up is quick and easy. The detail is of a high quality, with each armoured plate separated by a shallow recessed line. All the parts of my kit went together with out the need of filler or trimming.
This Iron Man model is based on the 2008 movie, so purists might get a bit upset that its not a true comic Iron Man. The height of the finished kit (not including the metal or plastic base) is about 75mm.SUMMARY | Highs: Exquisite detail. Well packaged. Lows: Pretty high price when postage is added. Can't find any official local
suppliers. Verdict: If Knight Models other kits are of similar quality then they are onto
a winner. The only downside is the price and postage costs, which I
can understand as Knight Models have had to pay for the licence's.
More of these kits will adorn my shelf though. | |

About Andy Brazier (betheyn) I started modelling in the 70's with my Dad building Airfix aircraft kits. The memory of my Dad and I building and painting a Avro Lancaster on the kitchen table will always be with me. I then found a friend who enjoyed building models, and between us I think we built the entire range of 1/72 Airfi... Copyright ©2010 text by Andy Brazier [ ]. Thanks! Tarok I never realised these were limited to 500 copies - better move on getting some of the range :D
Cheers for the preview, Andy.
Rudi Maki Those are some great looking figures... I can't wait to see some of their Star Wars stuff.
Mario betheyn Thanks guys.
I am interested in the Star wars figures as well. The Knight Models website states that they should be ready in the summer, which in the U.K was a 2 week period last month :D , but as they are based in Spain, they have a summer all year round ;) .
